It’s just swimming. Acrobatics. Running. Why does it inspire us so?
Is it the years of preparation, the dedication, the sacrifices leading up to the sweet victory?
Is it the “united nations” effect – all the world’s countries coming together in an organized, arranged fashion – each country equal, every player with the same shot at greatness?
Perhaps it is the joy of unity we have by experiencing great acts of achievement, or the awesome and inspiring ability of just one person to have the power to cause his or her country’s flag to rise above all others?
