As the 2012 Olympic games come to a close, here’s another reason why we love the Olympics. These worldwide games put us in touch with team spirit and good sportsmanship; they put us in touch with our greatness.
Interviewed on American television, Olympic champion and London 2012 Organizing Committee Chair Sebastian Coe put it best: “I think it’s a fantastic opportunity for all our nations to start celebrating the things that we hold dear — the priceless, the irreplaceable. The great thing about the Olympics movement, is it’s actually a metaphor for life: it’s about hard work, it’s about diligence, it’s about great coaching, it’s about friendship and respect.”
May that spirit live on, long after the closing ceremonies.
